FRAN ELWELL VENTURA, was born and raised in Belmont Massachusetts always had an interest in painting.  A self taught artist with only a few lessons at adult evening courses is continuing her work which includes painting subjects of places and people that have been in her life. Oil painting is the ideal medium but works with other mediums as well and always has an array of subjects from realistic to abstract. A home studio in both Massachusetts and Florida allows her to paint continuously as a favorite hobby. Being involved with Watertown Art Association and Cambridge art Association has given her the chance to display paintings and have them in juried shows.

She has been the recipient of many ribbons and has  donated to Belmont High School silent auction along with WGBH channel 2 auction.

When asked what inspires her to paint, Fran replies, “I love the feeling of making the paint come alive on the canvas. The light and color generate such warmth and life for me. I get completely transfixed in the moments of my painting.”
